How to Jailbreak iOS 8 - 8.1 by using Pangu untether for Mac OS X

The Pangu team has earlier promised to release Pangu 8 for Mac version, when they fixed all major bugs in Windows version. Accordingly, they have now released Mac version of the Pangu jailbreaking tool to the public. Some Mac users have long time waited until the Pangu release a Mac version of the tool. For them this is a very useful guide.


The newly released edition of Pangu tool is now compatible with all iOS 8.x series. So, iOS 8.0, iOS 8.0.1, iOS 8.0.2 and iOS 8.1 firmware versions could be jailbroken by using Pangu tool for Mac. Some have unofficially said that newly released beta version of iOS 8.1.1 patched the exploit which has been used by the Pangu team to jailbreak iOS 8.0.

Prerequisites for jailbreaking with Mac version


1.      First of all your iOS device should be running iOS 8.0 or iOS 8.0.1 or iOS 8.0.2 or iOS 8.1. Preferably the latest iOS 8.1.
2.      Do not update your device using the iOS OTA system. Instead of restore via iTunes. It will prevent some adverse issues.
3.      You should take a backup of your device before go into the jailbreaking process.  
4.      “Passcode” and “Find My iPhone” should be disabled before jailbreaking. Later you can enable them. 
5.      Download iTunes 12.0.1 or latest version and install.

Here are the steps for jailbreaking using Pangu tool (Mac version).


Step 1:
Download the Pangu tool for Mac on to your PC desktop.

Step 2:
Go to the desktop, select the just downloaded Pangu tool and run as administrator. 

Step 3:
While Pangu tool is running, connect your iOS device to your Mac PC using USB cable.

Step 4:
Once your device is detected by the tool, then click on “Start Jailbreak” button and after that click on “Already did”. Your iOS device will be rebooted several times.

Step 5:
Once jailbreaking is over, it will show you the message as “Jailbreak succeeded”.
