Jailbreak iOS 8.1 with Pangu8 (Mac/Windows)

Many jailbreaking tool developers have tried to release an iOS 8 jailbreak during the last few weeks. Most capable teams were the Pangu and Evad3rs. Pangu has earlier announced that they were able to jailbreak some beta versions of iOS 8 and they are working on iOS 8 jailbreak. They also mentioned that they wanted a stable and properly working iOS 8 version to finalize the jailbreak. And Apple has released the latest iOS 8.1 on last Monday. It was stable version as expected by the Pangu team. It helps a lot to the Pangu team to unveil the iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 jailbreak within a very short time period. And that was the first ever iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 jailbreak tool.

So finally Pangu team has defeated everyone in the battle to develop iOS 8 jailbreaking tool. Still this supports for the Windows users only. But it is expected that the Mac OS X version will be released as soon as possible. At the moment this jailbreak supports SSH only. It is not support for Cydia yet.

This jailbreak tool is not a finalized version. It is a developing stage version, which means that, still it has to be improved further. However, it was working adequately to be released to the public.

A list of supported iOS devices is given below.

  • iPhones
  • iPhone 4S,
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 5C
  • iPhone 5S
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPads
  • iPad Air
  • iPad Mini
  • iPad Mini 2
  • iPod Touch 5
  • iPad 2
  • iPad 3
  • iPad 4

Cydia

Even though you are allowed to download iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 jailbreaking tool on to your iOS device, you won’t get Cydia at the moment. Still Cydia does not compatible with iOS  8 and iOS 8.1. Once it starts to support to iOS 8 and 8.1, they will let you to download Cydia via a Pangu App or SSH.

Make your attention

  • Important to use appropriate USB cable.Using iTunes or iCloud, back up your iOS device.  If you have set a passcode lock of your iOS device, remove it. Then disable “Find My iPhone”, till the jailbreak is over.
  • You have to upgrade your iOS device to iOS 8.1 prior to start jailbreaking. But you    MUST NOT use the OTA method for the upgrading. OTA method cause to fail the jailbreak.
  •  In some cases, you may get a message stating that “your storage capacity is full”. It’s because of the Pangu jailbreak writes the files into your system directory. When you get the Cydia, these files can be moved.
  • Currently AFC2 plugins cannot be used. Apple has make modifications to the core iOS system.  The file named as “com.apple.mobile.softwareupdated.plist” MUST NOT delete, if not   system failure may occur.
Suppose that the iOS 8 jailbreak has failed. Then you have to turn off Wi-Fi and enable Airplane mode and try again.
